THE ATELIER
Founded in 2026, VeniS Atelier is an independent online magazine exploring the relationship between contemporary California and Mediterranean living through style, homes, design, travel, food, and culture. We call it Caliterranean™ living—where California’s laid-back spirit meets the Mediterranean’s centuries-old traditions, craftsmanship, and occasional refusal to hurry. One coast is famous for reinventing things; the other has spent centuries perfecting them. Behind the magazine is founder Veni Solari, Mediterranean-born and now based in Encinitas, California, whose background in journalism and graduate research in Venetian art history brings an investigative perspective and a persistent curiosity about why things are the way they are—especially when the obvious answer is the least interesting one.
THE STORIES
Our stories begin with a photograph, an architectural detail, or a question that refuses to go away. Through curiosity and original research, we explore the unexpected connections and contrasts between California and the Mediterranean—two coasts that continue to influence how we live, dress, and create. Sometimes the answers are centuries old. Sometimes they’re surprisingly contemporary. With the support of a small editorial team and contributors across Europe, we publish original stories every week, but The Atelier is open for discovery every day. After all, a good story doesn’t expire when the next one arrives.
We believe a magazine should be about the story, not the scroll. Social media has made the world more visible, but a fascinating discovery in the morning can become ancient history by afternoon. We have nothing against being social; we simply don’t believe every interesting thought needs a hashtag or an algorithm’s permission to exist. We’d rather discover stories worth reading than compete for attention every five minutes. Follow us or don’t. Just stay curious about the world beyond the screen, where real life rarely comes with a filter. Are we onto something, or have we completely lost the plot? We’ll let our readers decide. Thoughts, questions, disagreements, and story suggestions are always welcome.
