THE FOUNDER

Veni Solari is a journalist, art historian, and the founder of VeniS Atelier. Born in the Mediterranean and now based in Encinitas, California, she bridges the two coastal worlds that shape the publication’s signature Caliterranean™ lifestyle and design philosophy.

Solari holds a formal background in broadcast journalism and completed graduate research in Venetian art history in Europe. This unique intersection of media and art historical expertise led her to examine the deep cultural connections—and contrasts—between California and the Mediterranean, establishing the digital magazine’s distinctive point of view. Driven by genuine curiosity rather than fleeting digital trends, her editorial vision focuses on thoughtful design, slow living, and independent craftsmanship.

Today, Solari leads a small creative and editorial team, supported by local correspondents across Europe. She remains deeply hands-on in every aspect of the publication—spearheading story selection, research, writing, imagery, and final creative direction. This meticulous approach ensures that every VeniS Atelier feature carries a consistent, premium editorial and visual identity.

THE EDITORIAL PROCESS

Curious how a story comes to life at The Atelier? Every feature begins with a question—and with research that goes beyond the obvious. We consult books, historical archives, specialist research, established publications, local reporting, museum collections, and original sources whenever available. Sources are compared, claims are checked, and details that cannot be reliably supported are left out.

The subjects we pursue must do more than belong to California or the Mediterranean. They must reveal something worth knowing about how coastal places shape the way we dress, design, travel, eat, and live. Our role is not simply to repeat what has already been written, but to find the larger story: connecting history with the present, bringing overlooked details to the surface, and placing different cultures and perspectives into conversation through a distinctly editorial point of view.

From the first spark of an idea to publication, every feature is researched, written, visually art directed, fact-checked, and refined through several stages of editing. When a subject contains uncertainty, conflicting evidence, or more than one credible account, we say so. Curiosity may begin the story, but accuracy earns its place on the page.
